No Goodbyes, Just See You Soon
August 11, 2012
I've been using Multiply since the year 2005 (or 2006, maybe) and I definitely had my fair share of the so-called multiply hype. Aside from the fact that it became my online storage for old photos, I also gained a lot of friends from there. I was so saddened with the news that the management behind multiply will now be deleting all personal accounts on December 1, 2012 and will now go with the e-commerce format.
Here's the message from the management
I consider multiply as my second home away from Friendster during there lifetime of success and its my mini treasure box placed on the world wide web. Oh well, life is short and all we have to do is to go and just move on. I am still waiting for their toll for me to backup everything that I've posted because if not then I will just let everything drift away with my account. Yes! I have posted a lot of albums in there so imagine if I am going to manually backup everything, ugh!
Allow me to share some photos from my crazy life when I was a bit younger.
And a whole lot more, LOL! I even uploaded lots of edited photos and I even made an account for my multiply themes because I was making some theme back then using Mykonos and Avlack as my base themes.
Yea! Multiply and all those memories will be gone just like that.

I have not tried using multiply but most of my friends who have online shops used it... I feel bad for them and for u as well knowing that the site is reformating and deleting all the personal accounts.
ReplyDeleteAs for the e-commerce part, they will retain its status meaning if you are using multiply as a platform for e-commerce then you are saved.
DeleteI'm also a multiply user and a lot of my photos are in multiply so I'm awaiting for to export and backup all the files in multiply.
ReplyDeleteHope they release that tool as soon as possible.
Deleteso sad that they are saying goodbye howabout those businesses who depends on multiply I am also a client for some online seller
ReplyDeleteE-commerce multiply user will retain their accounts so fret not if your favorite online shop uses multiply.
Deletei was using it also before, but joined the facebook bandwagon and maintained my flickr account for photos...
ReplyDeleteDitto! I kind of neglected my multiply when I joined facebook and as for my flickr account I just stopped using it.
DeleteI also used multiply before, but not as often as Friendster. ;) I still have some pics uploaded there so I'll have to find time to sort and move them if needed.
ReplyDeleteI know they will release a tool wherein you can easily download all the files that you had saved on your account. I just wish they will release it as soon as possible.
DeleteSo sad that another social media forum is closing down. I wonder if there will come a day that facebook would also bid its goodbye. I hope not.
ReplyDeleteReally sad as for Facebook I do not wish for them to join the bandwagon, haha.
DeleteI enjoyed Multiply a few years back until I saw a lot of people switching to Facebook so I had no choice.
ReplyDeleteSame here. I suddenly abandoned my multiply when I joined Facebook.
Deletei haven't checked my multiply. ang weird lang, kasi nung uso ang multiply and some online sellers are using it to sell items, nagagalit sila banning accounts here and there. tapos they came up with the multiply premium for sellers and yun lang daw ang allowed to sell. and now this. oh well.
ReplyDeleteTrue. Natatawa nga ako nong nalaman ko that they are closing personal multiply account to give way to e-commerce. Kinain lang nila yung salita nila, haha. Oh well, ganun talaga sa e-commerce sila kikita e.
DeleteI used multiply once but I'm hook with friendster at that time. lol
ReplyDeleteYea! Iba ba din talaga ang friendster compared to multiply during that time, haha!
DeleteGoodbye Social Multiply, Hello E-commerce Multiply, the market rules!
ReplyDeleteTrue. Still sad that they are going to give up the social multiply.
Deleteme and my daughter had set out our online shop at multiply 3 years ago :)
ReplyDeleteYou don't have to worry because Multiply is keeping your account because you are using it for your online shop.
Deletewhat a great shot thanks for sharing
ReplyDeleteThere seems to be nothing permanent in the online environment so we just have to make the best out of what is being offered and go on to the next whenever practical or needed.
ReplyDeleteTotally agree on what you said.
Deleteso they're more of an ecommerce platform nalang ano? :)
ReplyDeleteYup! That was according to them ha. Hopefully hindi nila tuluyan na i-close yung buong site.
DeleteI never had a multiply account so i don't mind the changes.Anyway, facebook and tumblr is still around
ReplyDeleteNot to forget twitter, hehe.
DeleteThey made this transition maybe because big percentage of their users are really using it for ecommerce.
ReplyDeleteYup! Almost a lot of their users now uses multiply for ecommerce unlike before.
Deleteaaaw i miss multiply too. i visit my multiply site once in a while to look at the photos I have way back in college :)

Deleteawww!! good thing i only had friendster and FB accounts or else i would be broken-hearted as well losing touch with my cyber friends... the funny thing is when when look back at our old uploaded photos, we just look so young and in fashion then... hahahaha
ReplyDeleteGood thing almost a lot of my friends from multiply are already on facebook, haha. Yes! Young, Wild, and Free. Hahahaha!
DeleteTime flies. Everything changes. For business wise, this is what happens.
ReplyDeleteJust a bit sad because as I remember before they keep on banning users who uses their site for business purposes but look at where they are going now.
Deletewell this is a sad news.. well we can all understand them.. it is business.. and facebook and twitter has somewhat likely monopolize the social network side.. but businesses who uses multiply are slowly shifting to facebook too..
ReplyDeleteYup! Business as usual.
DeleteI've been using Multiply when I was in High School but it didn't make me hook...so sad... multiply seems to close soon...right?
ReplyDeleteYea! Its actually a good site especially when it comes to sharing photos and blogs.
DeleteI also have a multiply account. This is sad news indeed although I don't blame them since I don't use my site that often anymore. Will have to check my email. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteYour welcome! I only found out about the news through my friends who also used multiply.
DeleteThanks for the heads up! Hopefully I still got time to retrieve all the pictures and other stuff I've posted there before.
ReplyDeleteYou still have until December to retrieve everything and according to multiply there will be a tool that they will provide in order to download all your files easily.
DeleteI have friendster before, I never had the chance in multiply.
ReplyDeleteWhy not? Hehe. Oh well! Just like friendster, multiply will be all gone.

ReplyDeleteI'm still waiting for their tool para madali ko madownload. Ang dami kasi sobra.
DeleteAw. That's too bad. We thought Multiply would be stable for years. My friend uploads all her photos there, I think I have uploaded some old photos too. I guess I have to DL them before December. :(
ReplyDeleteI also thought that Multiply will last but then I guess not.
DeleteMultiply has been my home before moving to facebook. With this predicament, I guess I have to download everything I uploaded there. XD
ReplyDeleteSame here and I'm still waiting for their tool so I can download everything easily.
DeleteSame here. I have to download my photos just like what I did to my Friendster account. Haytz.
